Services

At Rock Bridge Animal Hospital we know that keeping your pet healthy means more than just giving vaccines every year.
We provide a full range of services, including preventative wellness care, in-house diagnostics, medical care and hospitalization,
surgery, dentistry, behavior consultations, microchipping, boarding, bathing and more.

Wellness Care

We know how much pets enrich our lives, and we want you to enjoy that bond with your pet for as long as possible. Our pets’ needs change as they grow from puppyhood into adulthood, and again as they reach their golden years.

During your pet’s wellness visit we will take the time to learn his or her lifestyle so we can create a wellness plan tailored specifically for your pet. We will also perform a comprehensive physical exam from nose to tail so that we can identify any concerns that need to be addressed. We will counsel you on any vaccines, wellness screens or additional testing that may be indicated for your pet’s well being.

Diagnostics

Testing is not only important during times of illness, but it is also an essential component of any health care regimen.

We provide a full range of diagnostics here at Rock Bridge Animal Hospital. We are able to run blood work, as well as common skin, urine and fecal exams right in house. We utilize outside laboratories when it is more beneficial for your pet’s particular needs or when it may provide you with a more cost effective alternative. Our radiology suite allows us to perform x-rays onsite.

Additional procedures available include eye pressure and blood pressure checks.

Dentistry

We all know how important oral health is to our overall health, and the same is true for our pets. During your pet’s dental cleaning, our doctors will perform a thorough oral exam to look for deep pockets, damaged or diseased teeth, and oral masses. We use digital dental radiography to examine the entire tooth allowing us to detect any disease present under the gum line that can’t otherwise be seen.

We use an ultrasonic scaler to thoroughly clean your pet’s teeth both above and (most importantly) below the gum line. This is the safest, most pain free and effective way to clean the teeth. We use a special disclosing solution to highlight the plaque ensuring that no areas are missed. Once we have recovered those pearly whites they are polished smooth so that there are no small grooves to attract the bacteria. We also have a sealant available called OraVet which creates a barrier between the teeth and the bacteria.

Boarding

For those times when you need to be away you can feel confident in leaving your pet in our care. We use Adaptil and Feliway diffusers which mimic the natural calming pheromones of dogs and cats creating a more relaxing atmosphere. We have separate dog and cat boarding facilities which are completely indoors and temperature controlled. They both have large windows to create a bright, sunny space.

Each animal is housed separately, unless you prefer your pets to stay together. We have large kennels and runs available for the dogs. The cats have individual condos with a separate “room” for the litter box. Two condos can be connected for an even larger area for cats in the same family. Every day your pet is provided with a clean area to stay, fresh bedding and fresh food and water. We feed Science Diet Adult food, or you can bring your own. The dogs are taken outside 3 times a day to potty. You are welcome to bring any special treats or toys for us to give during their stay.

Surgery

We have a full service surgery suite that allows us to provide many common surgical services that your pet may need during its lifetime.

This includes many basic procedures, such as spays, neuters, and mass removal. We are also equipped to perform more advanced procedures involving large tumor removal, fracture repair, or abdominal exploratory surgeries.Your pet’s comfort and safety is very important to us, so we provide balanced anesthesia for all of our patients. This means that we use a combination of medications to achieve the following goals: 1) Reduced anxiety for your pet resulting in a better and safer experience, 2) Reduced pain by addressing it properly before, during and after surgery, and 3) Increased safety by using lower doses of multiple drugs to achieve a good anesthetic effect with fewer side effects.

All pets placed under anesthesia are intubated to provide access to their airway. An intravenous catheter is placed which allows us to provide fluids to maintain proper blood pressure, as well as administer medications in the event of an emergency. They are wrapped in a heated air blanket to help control their body temperature for a safer anesthetic procedure and a more comfortable recovery.

All anesthetized patients are constantly attended by a trained veterinary assistant. In addition, they are monitored using state of the art monitoring equipment which tracks their heart rate, heart rhythm, respirations, blood pressure, carbon dioxide levels, oxygen levels and body temperature. This allows us to detect changes quickly so that we can adjust their anesthesia appropriately for a safer surgery.

Bathing

Does your pet need a little freshening up? We are here to help! Our bath package includes a bath, nail trim and ear cleaning.

Want your pet shaved for the summer, but he or she is too anxious at the groomers and must be sedated? We can do that too! Our staff will do close body shaves to your specifications whether it be a lion cut, full body cut, or something in between. If you are looking for more of a trim and a “style”, then we recommend using a local groomer. Cats are often much happier if they are sedated for a shave.

Our doctors are also more than happy to see your pet while they are here for their spa treatment if they need to be seen.
