Ticks are one of those pests that just gives you the heebie jeebies. You see one, and you feel like they’re all over you! Well there is good reason to be so grossed out by them. We all know what they are: little jumping, blood sucking insects. They feast on our cats and dogs, and every once in a while take a bite from a person too. They cause our pets misery, and gross us out.   How does your pet pick up fleas in the first place? Typically it starts when your pet goes to a place where a flea-infested animal has been. Say a stray cat walks through your back yard. The fleas on that cat are constantly laying eggs (up to 40-50 a day!), which quickly roll off of the cat and onto the ground. The staff at Rock Bridge Animal Hospital met Buddy for the first time in November 2010, shortly after becoming a new member of the Fuller family.  Buddy is a handsome 5 year old yellow Labrador Retriever Mix.  He was adopted from the Humane Society about 4 years ago and fate found him with his loving family.   Buddy’s family had decided that he was the one for them, but before they took him home they left the shelter to go and purchase a collar and leash for their new family member.  When they returned to pick him up, he had been adopted by another individual and was no longer at the...
